Mr. John Dicus Throgmorton was born May 22, 1943, in Waynesboro, TN in the Eagle Creek Community to his parents, the late Mr. James “Doc” Rufus Throgmorton and Mrs. Opal Mae Dicus Throgmorton. Mr. John Throgmorton spent his childhood on Eagle Creek and in the Clifton area, graduating from Frank Hughes High School with the class of 1961. Afterwards, he would follow his passion for mechanics, attending and graduating from the Nashville Auto Diesel College. In his young adult years, he would meet his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Mae Brewer, and the two would wed on February 13, 1964, forever intertwining their hearts and lives. The two would make Collinwood their home, putting down roots in Wayne County and raising their children in the admonition of the Lord as he and his wife are members of Burns Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Iron City, TN. He also felt a strong bond with his community and served as a member of Lodge #702 in Collinwood for many years. Being a hard worker and excellent provider for his family, throughout his occupational years he worked for Genesco Boot Manufacturing and spent over 20 years working for TVA as a machinist. In his leisure time he could be found watching the Tennessee Vols play football whenever they took the field, watching WCHS football and basketball, and watching his grandson work as the manager for WCHS in Waynesboro, TN. He possessed a deep love for his family and loved to teach his grandson Luke about mechanics and the function of various tools. Those who knew him best will remember his love for his God, his family, and the moments spent with his wife, children, and grandson, and his community and friends. Mr. John Dicus Throgmorton passed away at his home surrounded by family on January 24, 2026, making his stay on this earth some 82 years, 4 months and 2 days.
