American Legion Post 130 Conducts American Flag Retirement Ceremony

Posted

On Friday, September 5, 2025, American Legion Post 130 conducted an American Flag Retirement Ceremony. Wayne County Road Commissioner, Mr. Chuck Moser, honored the Legion by allowing the retirement service to be performed at the Wayne County Highway Department.

The ceremony began with Post Chaplain Lee Porter leading the Post with an opening prayer. After the opening prayer, Post Commander Ron Pulley called the assembly to order and directed the presentation of American flags to be inspected for retirement. Over one hundred flags were determined to be non-serviceable, and their retirement was directed. The actual retirement was performed by placing flags over an iron support and setting them ablaze.

Upon completion of the Retirement Ceremony, the Post Chaplain offered a closing prayer, and the assembly was dismissed.---Submitted
