A third individual was arrested last week on charges stemming from the illegal marijuana grow house and THC extraction operation discovered at a building near the state line last month. Mark Steven DeArman, age 45, listed as the Administrator of Burns Nursing and Rehab in Russellville, Alabama, was charged with manufacture of a controlled substance (marijuana) over 500 plants, conspiracy to manufacture, sell, and deliver a controlled substance (marijuana) over 500 plants, and manufacture of marijuana concentrate using inherently hazardous substances. Those are the same charges filed against Dr. Stuart Greenberg and Alisa Lynn Balentine, who have also been charged in connection with the case. DeArman was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $355,000.00 bond.
Assistant District Attorney Patrick Butler said the defendants will have a preliminary hearing in late February in Wayne County. The trio is implicated in a massive marijuana growing and THC extraction operation near the Alabama-Tennessee state line on Highway 13 South. The building, which some may recognize as the old Johnny's Club, was stated by the owner, Dr. Stuart Greenberg, as a medical records storage facility.
