Carma Dennis McGee, Tennessee Court of Appeals Judge, was a recent guest of Rotarian Stacey Brewer and presented a very informative program to the Waynesboro Rotary Club on the Tennessee judicial system. Handouts outlined the Tennessee court system which is composed of Courts of Limited Jurisdiction, Trial Courts, Intermediate Appellate Courts and the Court of Last Resort (Supreme Court of Tennessee).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Intermediate Appellate Courts are composed of the Court of Appeals and the Court of Criminal Appeals. Each of the appellate courts consists of 12 judges. Judge McGee sits on the Western Section which hears civil, administrative agency, and juvenile appeals from across the state. She was previously Chancellor (Chancery Court Judge) of Tennessee\u2019s 24th<\/sup> Judicial District which includes Benton, Carroll, Decatur, Hardin, and Henry counties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n McGee received her undergraduate degree from Union University in 1993 and her J.D. from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis in 1998. Her prior judicial experience was attained as Chancellor of the 24th<\/sup> Judicial District from 2014-2019 and as Savannah City Judge from 2004-2005. Prior to her appointment, Judge McGee was in private practice with the law firm of McGee & Dennis, Attorneys at Law in Savannah, Tennessee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Waynesboro Rotary is a community service organization in Waynesboro that meets each Tuesday at Dad\u2019s Pizzeria from noon until 1 p.m. You may follow the Waynesboro Rotary Club on Facebook at Waynesboro TN Rotary Club.
