A Wayne County woman, Elise Renee Mosca, was sentenced last week for the shooting death of her husband, James John Donahue.

On January 22, 2019, Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the call of a shooting incident on Suckstem Branch Road in northern Wayne County. Upon their arrival at the residence, officers found Donahue deceased from a single gunshot wound.

An investigation of the incident revealed a domestic incident between Donahue and his wife Elise Mosca which resulted in the shooting and subsequent death of Donahue. Mosca was taken into custody and charged with Second Degree Murder.

On Wednesday, January 19, Mosca entered a plea of guilty on the reduced charge of Voluntary Manslaughter. She was sentenced to ten years and taken into custody following the hearing.

22nd Judicial District Attorney General Brent Cooper said, “After reviewing the facts in detail and considering the possibilities of the outcome of a jury trial, we feel that this agreement is fair disposition of the case. Hopefully, this family can now move on from this tragic event.”
