Bethany Lorraine Church, age 27, of Lavinia, Tennessee, was arrested on Sunday, March 1st on a charge of filing a false report. According to the report filed by Lt. Jeremy Staggs of the Waynesboro Police Department, Church gave a false statement to law enforcement regarding the alleged kidnapping of a baby. Church allegedly told law enforcement that she had given birth to a baby on February 14th in Jackson, Tennessee. The alleged father of the baby stated to law enforcement that someone had contacted him to arrange a meeting to exchange the baby, and Church went along with the story, but changed her story multiple times during the investigation. The investigation ultimately revealed that Church had never given birth to a baby. She was arrested and booked into the Wayne County Jail on $50,000.00 bond.
