WMS Lady Cats Claim County Championship

   On December 7, the Waynesboro Middle School Lady Cats took on the CMS Lady Trojans for the Wayne County Middle School Championship. The Lady Cats jumped out to an early 12-5 lead. Behind a strong defensive effort the Lady Cats expanded the led to 29-13 at halftime. The Lady Cats stayed in control for the entire second half and ended the game with a 43-23 victory.

   Scoring for the Lady Cats were Blair Baugus 15, Kenzie Griggs 11, Isabel Luedeke 6, Emma Bryant 5, Jacqueline Keaton 4, and Sarah Blackwell 2. Blair Baugus, Isabel Luedeke, and Jacqueline Keaton were selected to the all seasonal team. As of print time the Lady Cats had compiled a record of 21 wins and 3 losses. They will participate in the James C. Haile Tournament on Saturday, January 18th against James Satterfield Middle School.  Congratulations and good luck to the Lady Cats!—Submitted
