For the past several seasons, the Waynesboro Middle School boys’ basketball team has been using the football locker room. This was due to the basketball locker room needing a major cleaning as well as multiple repairs.  According to school officials, the gymnasium roof experienced a leak which caused mildew in the locker room.  This led to the locker room being unsuitable for the team to use.

In the Spring of 2022, Head Coach Tanner Andrews began cleaning the locker room. After a deep cleaning, he identified repairs the locker room needed. This included fresh paint, new flooring, new lockers, privacy dividers for urinals, new faucet for the sink, and numerous other small repairs.

With the support of new leadership (Brad Stooksberry and Kassy Quick), coaches Tanner Andrews and Charlie Mosley began working on repairs. The school’s athletic account was able to fund the purchase of paint, urinal dividers, and a new water faucet. Jaran Abernathy’s carpentry classes at the Wayne County Technology Center built new lockers out of lumber recycled from old bleachers that were previously replaced in the gymnasium.

After generous donations from businessmen in the community and lockers being built by the Wayne County Technology Center’s carpentry classes, the Waynesboro Middle School boys’ basketball team is proud to have a locker room of their own.
