Willie Lee Griggs, age 36, of Collinwood, and Amber Michelle Franks, age 27, also of Collinwood, were arrested on Saturday, November 7th on multiple drug-related charges following a traffic stop. Waynesboro Police Officer Austin Lanier filed a report stating that he performed a traffic stop on a blue Ford SUV for a window tint violation. After stopping the vehicle, Officer Lanier made contact with Griggs and Franks and asked for permission to search the vehicle. Griggs denied permission, and K-9 Eryk was then deployed by Deputy Tyler McKenzie to perform an exterior scan of the vehicle. The K-9 then alerted positively on the vehicle, indicating that drugs were present. Officers then searched the interior of the vehicle, and allegedly located a bag containing 3.7 grams of methamphetamine under the driver’s seat, along with three pills believed to be 2mg Xanax bars, and two pills believed to be Alprazolam. Found in the center console was a pack of twelve short cut straws believed to be used for snorting meth and other drugs, and found approximately two feet from the vehicle was a set of digital scales disguised as a key fob containing meth residue. Franks had allegedly tossed the scales out in the vehicle in an attempt to dispose of them before the vehicle was searched. She also allegedly admitted to concealing a meth pipe in her bra, which was found and removed when Franks arrived at the Wayne County Jail. Both Griggs and Franks were arrested and transported to the Wayne County Jail. Griggs was charged with two counts of possession of schedule IV narcotics, one count of possession of schedule II meth with intent to resale, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into jail on $90,000.00 bond. Franks was charged with tampering with evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia, and was booked into jail on $60,000.00 bond.
