   William Edward French was born to the late Ernest French and Rosa Hampton in Nashville, TN on Sunday, July 27, 1941. He attended public schools in Nashville, TN and later in life he received his GED. William professed a hope in Christ at an early age. He attended various churches during his lifetime. William served in the army for a two-year enlistment. After leaving the military, he worked laying ceramic tile in Nashville, TN.  He then moved to Clifton, TN in 1997 and on July 5, 2000 he was united in Holy Matrimony to Carolyn Ann Churchwell. While in Clifton he worked for a sawmill until his retirement. He departed this life at his home on Monday, August 8, 2022 after a long illness.

   He was preceded in death by four brothers, Morris French, Ernest French, Charles Ingram, and Lee Ingram.

   William leaves to cherish his memory one son, David (Rachel) Webb; two daughters, Ausha (Cody) Gatlin of Clifton, TN and Shanta (Steven) Conwell of Nashville, TN; one brother, Theodore (Mary Ann) French of Nashville, TN; one sister, Virginia Batey of Nashville, TN; nine grandchildren, Alli and Rayah Gatlin of Clifton, TN, Dionna Webb of Florence, AL, Charles and Lisa Webb of Bethel Springs, TN, La Coya (Joseph) Garner, Stejante (Cedrick) Washington, Steondra Conwell, Steven Conwell, and Stevona Conwell of Nashville, TN; one bonus grandchild, Nova Sparks of Dyersburg, TN; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
