The WCHS/CHS Boys’ Soccer season got underway on March 15th. These young men have been working diligently all offseason in hopes to be able to play this spring since their season was cut short last year due to the pandemic.

The boys opened up at home against a very good McEwen team. It was a hard fought match the entire way through. At halftime, the game was locked at 0-0. Not long after the second half began, Justin Bowlus drove the ball down toward the opponents’ goal. He delivered a beautiful pass to David Walker that finished off the pass with the first goal of the season! Not long after, McEwen was able to tie the ballgame on a penalty kick. Though the boys were exhausted, they found a few more opportunities to score. Finally, with about 10 minutes left in the match, Enoc Caballero’s shot found the back of the net to take a 2-1 lead. The boys were able to hold off McEwen’s final attacks and celebrate their first victory of the season!

Please make plans to come out and support these young men. Their next home match is March 24th at 6:00 PM against Culleoka.—Submitted
