The WCHS/CHS Boys’ Soccer season wrapped up on Friday, May 7th as the boys faced off against the #1 ranked Adamsville Cardinals. While only having 11 players available and playing the night before, the ‘Cats came out and gave it everything they had. Holding off several attacks, the Cardinals were able to find the back of the net midway through the first half to go up 1-0. At the break in the game, the ‘Cats were only down 2-0. Although the ‘Cats continued to fight, they were never able to get one across the goal line. The final ended up being 4-0 Adamsville.

Adamsville faced off Tuesday night, May 11th against Loretto at the Waynesboro Sportsplex in the District 11 Championship game. There was a great crowd, with many fans making the trip to come watch this fantastic showdown. The match was locked up 0-0 for the majority of the first half. Late in the first half, Adamsville’s forward was able to put a goal in the back of the net. Coming out in the second half, the Mustangs continue to get goal scoring opportunities. Finally, off a shot rebound, Loretto was able to put one in to tie up the match. With the game knotted at 1-1, all the spectators were expecting overtime.  However, Adamsville forward Kameron Graham had other thoughts. With less than five minutes left in the match, Graham took a deflected ball past the Loretto defense and scored what would be the game winning goal. Adamsville would hold on to be the District 11 Champions.

After the game, the All-Tournament selections were presented along with the District Champion & Runner-Up awards. From Wayne County, Cort Robertson was selected for an All-Tournament award. Cort had four goals in the win against Riverside.

The soccer team, parents, and coaches extended their appreciation to everyone that came out and supported these young men throughout the season. They are looking forward to many more great matches “under the lights!”
