The Waynesboro Rotary Christmas Parade will kick off the county’s festivities of the season this Saturday, December 4th at 6:00 p.m. The theme for this year’s parade is the movie “Christmas Vacation – Let’s Celebrate Griswold Style!” The parade will once again feature beautifully decorated floats, antique cars, and lots of Christmas cheer! The Wayne County High School Marching Band will play favorite Christmas songs as they march along the parade route, and Santa Claus will make his annual appearance in the parade to the delight of the young and the young-at-heart.

Grand Marshals for this year’s parade will be all the frontline workers, including nurses, EMS, and all other healthcare professionals. Any frontline workers who wish to either ride or walk in the parade should be dropped off in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot at 5:00 p.m. Lineup for the parade will be at 5:00 p.m. in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot, and the parade will make its way through town, around the square, and down Main Street to Wayne County High School.

Also on Saturday, the Waynesboro Downtown Committee is hosting “Christmas on the Square,” with vendor booths set up and several businesses open to customers. Santa Claus and The Grinch will also be there to meet and greet everyone, whether young, old, or in between!

Clifton’s “Stroll Through Christmas” is coming up on Saturday, December 11th, and the Collinwood Christmas Parade will take place the following day, Sunday, December 12th. We will give readers more details on those events in next week’s edition of The News.

Come on out to enjoy all the holiday festivities, and celebrate “Griswold Style” this Saturday in Waynesboro!
