Waynesboro Man Arrested for Cruelty to Animals, Assaulting Officers

   Benjamin Matthew Hendron, age 22, of Waynesboro, was arrested on Tuesday, August 17th on multiple charges. Deputy Mai Kinney was dispatched to 1389 Pope Circle where he allegedly found Herndon naked and yelling that he had “been shot.” A witness at the scene, Sherry Brown, alleged that Hendron killed her cat by slamming it repeatedly on a post and on the ground. After being detained, Hendron allegedly admitted to officers that he had consumed the powerful drug known as “acid.” He was arrested on charges of aggravated cruelty to animals, indecent exposure, and public intoxication. On the following day, August 18th, Hendron received additional charges of assault and aggravated assault after he allegedly assaulted two correctional officers at the Wayne County Jail. Hendron is being held in the Wayne County Jail on $67,500.00 bond.
