Maury Regional Health recently announced that Wayne Medical Center Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tyler Taylor will be leaving his post at the hospital in late February to serve as CEO at a hospital in Georgia.

Taylor joined Maury Regional Health in 2013 and has served in several leadership roles, the most recent being a promotion to CEO at Wayne Medical Center in 2017.

“Tyler’s expertise in finance and rural health care have been instrumental during his time at the organization, and we are grateful for his contributions,” said Maury Regional Health CEO Martin Chaney, MD. “We wish him continued success.”

According to Dr. Chaney, an interim CEO will be appointed prior to Taylor’s departure but a decision has not yet been finalized.

Taylor stated, “It has been a pleasure working for Maury Regional Health and with the leadership and citizens of Wayne County. I will miss this community but look forward to being closer to family.”

Taylor’s move comes in the midst of the current situation at Wayne Medical Center. Maury Regional Health recently informed the Wayne County Commission that unless major changes are made at the facility, whether it be renovations at the existing facility or the construction of a new hospital, they will not be extending their contract to manage the hospital. The contract that Maury Regional has with the county will expire in June 2024.

Sources told The News that Taylor’s departure is not related to the current situation with Wayne Medical Center.
