Wayne County Youth Squirrel Hunt Registration

   Registration is open for the Ashtin Grimes Memorial Youth Squirrel Hunt to be held in Wayne County on January 23, 2021. This is year number five for this annual event and it is open to youth 8-15 years of age.

   The event kicks off at 6 a.m. with breakfast, where hunters will be paired with dog handlers and safety officers. Groups will caravan to predetermined hunting locations for a morning of squirrel hunting. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. and a few prizes will be awarded.

  All participants are required to have the appropriate licenses and hunter education. Youth ten years of age and older must have passed a Hunter Education course. Those 13-15 are required to have a Type 002 Jr. Hunt/Fish/Trap license. Each hunter will need to bring an appropriate firearm and ammunition.
