In an effort to promote tourism in Wayne County, a new Tourism Task Force is currently taking shape. There will be a meeting to organize the task force on Thursday, January 6th at 3:00 p.m. in Room 400 of the courthouse on the square. The meeting is open to anyone who is interested in promoting and enhancing tourism in Wayne County.

Wayne County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Christine Chapman said that the goal of the Tourism Task Force is to identify how Wayne County’s tourism industry can be improved and showcased in a better light. She pointed out that all business owners in the area benefit from tourism in various ways, not just the hotels and scenic “standard” tourism spots.

Anyone who owns a business in Wayne County, especially a tourism destination business, is encouraged to attend this meeting. Your input is definitely needed as to how we can make our county more tourism-friendly, especially in these tough economic times.
