Wayne County Couple Killed in Christmas Eve Crash

   A Wayne County pastor and his wife were tragically killed in a Christmas Eve motor vehicle crash while returning home from a family get-together in Lawrence County.

   According to reports from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the Ford Taurus driven by Paul Kelley, age 75, of Iron City, was traveling westbound on Iron City Road on Christmas Eve night. Mr. Kelley and his wife Linda, age 72, had reportedly left a family member’s home in St. Joseph around 8:30 p.m.

   The trooper’s report states that Mr. Kelley failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the roadway, and traveled behind a guardrail down an embankment. The vehicle reportedly struck a tree and overturned. Both Mr. and Mrs. Kelley were killed in the accident.

   The crash happened near the Bromley Road intersection with Iron City Road. It was reportedly discovered by a family member at approximately 8:45 a.m. on Christmas morning.
