   Wanda S. Staggs, (known as “Aunt Sue” or “Sue Sue”), age 75 of Miami, OK passed away peacefully with family by her side on January 7, 2021 at Integris Grove Hospital.

   She was born on April 22, 1945 in Waynesboro, TN to Elbert and Kate Staggs. After graduating High School, she enlisted in the United States Army and served her first term of seven years as a Medical Corpsman during the Vietnam Era taking care of wounded soldiers. After returning to active duty a second time, she then served the next thirteen years as a Medical Corpsman and accepted the responsibility to train new incoming Army recruits by becoming an Army Drill Sergeant.

   During her military service, Wanda achieved many awards and accommodations including the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal as well as ribbons and badges for her service.

   Wanda is survived by her only living sibling Jessie Goins and niece Barbara Goins of Owasso, OK; numerous nieces and nephews including Brenda Martin and husband Bob; Stephanie Provence and husband Bryan and their five children. Chloe, Dawson, Kylie, Maddix and Sofia; Brandon Maples, all of Miami, OK; Sherry Carroll, Kim Scott, Jeff Staggs, Mike Staggs; Marcie Griggs, Ethan Tilley, Vickey Victory; Kenneth Lemay, Judy Skelton and sister-in-law Charlotte Staggs, all of Tennessee.

   At this time, no formal service is planned. Arrangements have been placed in the care of Paul Thomas Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami, OK. Online condolences may be made at www.paulthomasfuneralhomes.com.
