   Mr. Walton Charles Tatum was born August 7, 1922 in Perry County, Tennessee, the son of the late William “Bill” and Ada Sharp Tatum. Mr. Tatum departed this life on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Waynesboro Health and Rehabilitation Center in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 97 Years, 7 Months, 7 Days.
   He was united in marriage to Mae Edith Holt on July 3, 1947. Mrs. Tatum preceded him in death on March 1, 2015.

   Mr. Tatum was a logger, member of the Topsy Church of Christ, and served his country in the United States Army.

   He is survived by son, Charles Wayne Tatum, wife Vickie; daughters, Carolyn Faye Sassenrath, husband David Hatton, and Donna Wilson all of Waynesboro, TN; grandchildren, Renee Maupin, Jena Lynch, husband Chris, Sabrina Warren, husband Brad, and Jason Wilson; great-grandchildren, Cierra Wilson, Madison Wilson, Miranda Maupin, Alissa Maupin, Turner Lynch, Damien Wilson, Domenic Wilson, and Silas Wilson.

   In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Tatum was preceded in death by sisters, Martha Weeks, Nancy Crowell, Minnie Jones, Roxie Tatum, Clemmie Tatum; brothers, Howard Tatum, Hunter Tatum, Hollis Tatum, Bob Tatum, Malcolm Tatum, and John Tatum; grandchild, Kreg Lawrence.

   Services were held on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Home in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Ronnie Pope officiating. Burial followed in North Highland Cemetery, Waynesboro, TN with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of the arrangements.
