Walter Jackson “Jack” Vandygriffe

   Mr. Walter Jackson “Jack” Vandygriffe was born September 11, 1941 in Wayne County, TN to the union of the late Henry Kenneth and Theo Crews Vandygriffe. He was united in marriage to the former Dinah Jackson on January 11, 1964. Mr. Vandygriffe worked at Genesco for 20 years, retired from the Army National Guard as a Staff Sergeant after 23 years where he proudly served his country, retired from the Department of Correction as a Lieutenant after 20 years, was a 50-plus year member of the Masonic Lodge #127 in Waynesboro, and was a member of the Wayne Furnace Church of Christ. Mr. Vandygriffe departed this life on March 27, 2021 in Waynesboro, Tennessee making his stay in this life some 79 Years, 6 Months and 16 Days.

   He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dinah Jackson Vandygriffe, of Waynesboro, TN; a son, Jackie Ray Vandygriffe and wife Christy of Westpoint, TN; two daughters, Julie Lynn Estes and husband John of Waynesboro, TN, Carol Ann Sircy and husband Toby of Nashville, TN; five grandchildren, Caitlin Estes, Jake Estes, Makenna Vandygriffe, Halle Beth Vandygriffe, and Jackson Avery Vandygriffe.

   Mr. Vandygriffe was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Kenneth Vandygriffe and Theo Crews Vandygriffe Busby, and two sisters, Betty Vandygriffe Carter and Margie Vandygriffe Gilmore.

   Services were  held on Monday March 29, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors, Waynesboro with Ben Williams officiating. Burial with full military rites followed in the Shields Cemetery at Waynesboro with Collinwood American Legion Post 254 serving as pallbearers. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County assisting the family.
