The new Wayne County Agriculture Center, located at the Industrial Park near Collinwood, is coming along nicely! As shown in the photo, the walls are up, and it won’t be long until the building is dried in and work will begin on the inside.

The Ag Center began as a vision and a dream shared by many Wayne Countians several years ago. After much planning and discussion, the ground was broken on the project last October. The facility will house the local UT Extension and Soil and Conservation offices, a 125-person training/meeting room, commercial kitchen, and a covered pavilion to provide an outdoor classroom and event space. The grounds around the facility will be used for ag-related shows, demonstrations, and eventually, community gardens. After being awarded the $100,000 Kubota “Hometown Proud” grant, local Kubota dealer, Brown Equipment Company, in Loretto, Tennessee, has already started providing the needed equipment and will serve as a resource to the Wayne County Ag Center team as they continue to bring their project to life.
