TWRA Responds to Opening Day Turkey Hunting Accident

   The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency responded to a hunting accident call on Saturday April 4, 2020.

   Wayne County wildlife officer Brandon Taylor reported that two hunters had been mistakenly identified as a turkey and shot by a third hunter.

   One victim received minor injuries to his left arm, while the second victim sustained injury to his chest, head, neck, and face. He was taken by Lifeflight to Vanderbilt and released on Sunday.

   No charges have been filed in this incident.

   Tennessee’s statewide turkey season opened Saturday, April 4 and closes May 17, 2020.
