Two Waynesboro Men Arrested for Burglary & Theft at RenCass Motel

   Gary Zane Cole, age 33, and Christopher Leon West, Jr., age 50, both of Waynesboro, were arrested on Tuesday, November 3rd on charges of aggravated burglary, aggravated criminal trespass, and theft of property under $1,000. Officer Ryan Livingston of the Waynesboro Police Department filed a report stating that he received a call regarding a break-in and theft at the RenCass Motel. During his investigation, Officer Livingston observed a video that allegedly showed Cole and West entering the office and taking items. Both Cole and West allegedly also knew that they had been previously banned from the premises. At the time of Cole’s arrest, he was also served with a warrant for an additional charge of theft of property under $1,000. According to the report filed by Investigator Matt Retherford, on October 31st, 2020, Cole allegedly removed a Stihl chainsaw belonging to Jimmie Heard from a vehicle without Heard’s consent. The vehicle was parked at RenCass Motel at the time of the alleged theft. Cole was arrested and booked into the Wayne County Jail on $137,500.00 bond. West was arrested and booked into the Wayne County Jail on $135,000.00 bond.
