A crash involving two vehicles, one of which was a Waynesboro City Police patrol vehicle, sent two local women to a Nashville hospital for treatment of their injuries on Monday.

According to a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, at approximately 3:20 p.m. on Monday, Officer Cody Jones of the Waynesboro Police Department was stopped in the southbound lane of Highway 13 with his turn signal on as he prepared to turn left into the Waynesboro Sportsplex parking lot. The car pictured above, driven by Teresa Wright of Waynesboro, was traveling southbound in the same lane of traffic and failed to stop for Officer Jones’ vehicle. Ms. Wright struck Officer Jones’ patrol vehicle in the rear, causing serious injury to herself and her passenger. Both were airlifted to a Nashville-area hospital for treatment. No word on their condition was available as of press time on Tuesday.

Officer Jones reportedly sustained no serious injuries in the crash. All of the vehicles’ occupants were wearing seatbelts.
