Trojans & Trojanettes Take Down Frank Hughes, Fall to Summertown

   The Collinwood High School Trojans and Trojanettes faced the Frank Hughes Lions and the Summertown Eagles in district action last week. Both the boys and girls came out with wins against Frank Hughes on Tuesday. On Friday, the Trojans and Trojanettes suffered losses against Summertown.

   The Trojans and Trojanettes faced the Lady Lions on Tuesday, February 4th. The Trojanettes tipped off first, holding the Lady Lions to 9 points in the first half with a score of 41-9. After halftime, the Trojanettes continued to play strong and finished with a win. The final score was 54-20. Leading the Trojanettes in scoring was Kristen Retherford with 17 points and 2 rebounds. Also scoring for the Trojanettes were Asia Kelly with 8 points and 4 rebounds, AC Whitehead with 7 points and 2 rebounds, Harlee Haddock with 6 points and 1 rebound, Sophie Gobbell with 5 points and 3 rebounds, Emily Kautsky with 4 points and 3 rebounds, Alyssa Gray with 3 points and 5 rebounds, Katie Robertson with 3 points, and Brylee Harris with 1 point. Hayley Siems had 3 rebounds and Rhianna McWilliams and Kaycee Luker had 1 rebound each. 

   Also on Tuesday the Trojans faced the Lions. At the half, the boys were up 9 points with a score of 29-20. The Trojans finished with a win. The final score was 65-60. Leading the Trojans in scoring were Dayton Scott and Peyton Ward, each with 13 points. Following Scott and Ward was Joe Thompson with 11 points. Also scoring for the Trojans were Tucker Thompson with 10 points, Dalton Chastain with 8 points, Noah Hollis with 7 points, Bryan Rozinski with 2 points, and Blair Holt with 1 point. 

   On Friday, the Trojanettes faced the Lady Eagles. The girls had a tough loss with a final score of 34-68. Leading the Trojanettes in scoring were Sophie Gobbell and Asia Kelly, each scoring 9 points. Gobbell had 3 rebounds and Kelly had 10 rebounds. Also scoring for the Trojanettes were AC Whitehead with 7 points and 6 rebounds, Harlee Haddock with 3 points, Brylee Harris with 2 points, Kristen Retherford with 2 points and 3 rebounds, Alyssa Gray with 1 point and 1 rebound, and Emily Kautsky with 1 point and 2 rebounds. Hayley Siems had 3 rebounds, Rhianna McWilliams and Katie Robertson each had 2 rebounds, and Addie Quillen had 1 rebound.

   The Trojans faced off against the Eagles on Friday. The boys also suffered a loss with a final score of 51-86. Leading the Trojans in scoring was Peyton Ward with 11 points. Following Ward were Dalton Chastain and Tucker Thompson each scoring 10 points. Also scoring for the Trojans were Noah Hollis with 6 points, Aidan Baskins and Blair Holt with 4 points, Carter Smith and Joe Thompson with 2 points, and Kelsey Moore and Noah Haddock each with 1 point. 

   The Trojanettes now have a record of 14-6 and the Trojans have a record of 7-13. They each have 3 games next week. They played a make-up game at Santa Fe on Monday and Mt. Pleasant at home on Tuesday. On Thursday, the Trojans and Trojanettes travel to Lewis County for their last regular season game. “GO BIG GREEN!”—Submitted
