Former Wayne County resident and Head Basketball Coach Madonna Thompson recently led her Lady Bucaneers basketball team from Shelton State Community College to their 16th conference title. She was also selected “Coach of the Year” for the Alabama Community College Conference.
The season was delayed and shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The team participated in the National JUCO Tournament held in Lubbock, Texas, where they reached the Elite 8 among the 24 invited teams. After a hard fought game, the team lost to Trinity Valley (Texas) Community College and finished the season at 21-4.
