Anyone driving through Waynesboro in the last couple of weeks has noticed all the street paving going on. Not only are many miles of city streets getting new asphalt; it’s getting done in record time.
The City of Waynesboro received a Community Development Block Grant for the 2024-2025 fiscal year in the amount of $525,000. This amount was fully applied to the cost of the paving project, along with an additional $275,000 voted on by the Waynesboro City Commission to come from the city’s healthy fund balance that will complete the job.
This round of paving completes a two-year project that, when finished, will see most Waynesboro city streets in close proximity to the south side of the square with a new layer of asphalt that will hold up for years to come.
