On June 29, 2025, Waynesboro First Fellowship Church will host a Gospel Hootenanny, a type of good old-fashioned singing that once was the joy of many churches in the 40s, 50s, and 60s. Back in the day, these singings featured some well-known names in Wayne County.
The fellowship of these singings did not divide among denominational lines, but brought Christians of all faiths together to sing for Jesus.
In later years, when the singings had become just a fond memory, some Wayne County musicians like Fay Turman, Robert Rains, Charlie Hasting, and Guy Buchanan gathered with instruments and had informal fellowship at their homes or other places around town. A few years ago, Bible Fellowship Church sponsored one and the people came in large groups to enjoy the fellowship.
Waynesboro First Fellowship Church invites everyone to join them for a Gospel Hootenanny led by Ann Galbreath, Charlie Hasting, and Donnie Pope. The event will take place on June 29, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. There will be a time of fellowship during a break in the singing. Come ready to hear some good gospel singing and fellowship with others.
