Eileen Yvette Morgan, 89, of Iron City, Tennessee, passed peacefully on September 30, 2026.
She was a one-of-a-kind Momma, Mawmaw, Auntie Honey and friend. Words cannot express how much she will be missed.
Born on March 12, 1937, she was the youngest daughter of John and Eva Phaneuf of West Warwick, Rhode Island. She met and fell in love with a Navy Sailor, Herman Edward Morgan, stationed at Quonset Point Rhode Island and supported his service as a Navy wife, raising a family across the U.S. and Caribbean before settling in Iron City, Tennessee.
To so many, she was known as “Ms. Eileen” and was a woman entrepreneur ahead of her time, running several small businesses around Wayne County for almost 30 years. Her keen fashion sense led to selling clothes from a little red van to the basement of her home and eventually led to the opening of Eileen’s Fashions in Collinwood, Clifton, and Waynesboro. Through her businesses, she supported countless community causes and charities and built lasting friendships. Her energy was boundless and she poured that into her family. She was always looking for an adventure and loved to travel, especially with her beloved sister Claire. She never missed a chance to see her children and grandchildren, present for all their births. She was an avid reader, gardener, and a fantastic cook. She was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
She was a force who leaves a legacy of love, a great sense of humor, and a family who loves her fiercely.
Eileen is survived by her son Bruce Morgan of Gallatin, Tennessee; her son John Allen Morgan (Nancy) of Cypress Inn; daughter Sherry Rich (Jasper) of Cypress Inn; daughter Kim Wirth (Brian) of Auburn, Alabama; and her beloved grandchildren, Chasity Auberger (Kevin), Haley Griggs (Justin), John Berry Morgan (Makenzie), Joseph Rich (Presley), Thomas Rich, Morgan Wirth, Hannah Wirth, and William Wirth; and great-grandchildren, Kylie, Braylen, and Jackson Auberger, Landon Locklear, Josey and Savannah Griggs, John Clice and Elsie Morgan.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Herman Morgan; grandson, Chad Morgan; and beloved siblings, Muriel, Claire, and Norman.
Pallbearers: John Berry Morgan, Joseph Rich, Thomas Rich, Morgan Wirth, William Wirth, Kevin Auberger, and Justin Griggs. Honorary pallbearers are Jasper Rich and Brian Wirth.
