The winter season certainly has its charms, but let’s be honest – by the time the groundhog creeps out of his burrow in early February, most of us are pulling hard for “no shadow” and the promise of an early spring. By the middle of March, the start of spring, we use any excuse to get outside to celebrate the fact we survived another season of wet, gray, and cold weather. Fortunately for us in the south, the days are getting warmer and the flowers are blooming, so it must be spring! Therefore, Waynesboro is set to greet the warmer days by celebrating the beginning of the spring season with the Annual Spring Fest this coming Saturday, April 29, from 9am until 3pm. The event is hosted by the Downtown Waynesboro Committee.

The festival will take place on the square. It is situated to welcome over 75 vendors offering a wide array of items. Seasonal homemade crafts, home décor, soaps, candles, handmade jewelry, t-shirts/sweatshirts, personalized monogramming, painted door hangers and wreaths, jams and jellies, fresh baked sweets and breads, crocheted and knitted things…these are just a few of the products you will find being offered.

Numerous food and snack vendors will be on hand offering a variety of scrumptious foods. Hamburgers, hotdogs, barbecue, pizza, wings, Cajun, and hibachi style together with homemade desserts and sweets, kettle corn, shaved ice, caramel apples, cotton candy, and fresh lemonade is bound to generate the perfect spring flair!

Several kid activities will be present. Watch their eyes light up when seeing the free bouncy house!  A cornhole tournament is set to begin at noon located at the gazebo. Teams of two will battle for bragging rights and to receive a cash prize. So, get a partner and sign up!

It’s not too late to participate as a vendor! It’s a great fundraising opportunity for civic clubs, non-profit organizations, ball teams, church groups, school clubs, etc. If you, or someone you know, would like to participate as a vendor, simply register online at the Waynesboro Downtown Committee website and be added to the vendor list at www.downtownwaynesborotn.com.

The Downtown Waynesboro Committee is pleased to provide events that give families the opportunity to not only enjoy our town, but enjoy the beginning of the spring season in a fun and safe environment. Our community and citizens have pivoted during the past several years to adapt to the changing times with new needs for its patrons, and this event is another example of efforts to continue our mission in enriching the lives of our citizens.

Everyone is invited to participate and attend! Spring has arrived! See you there!—Submitted by the Downtown Waynesboro Committee
