Shooting Injures One in What Officers are Calling a Targeted Incident

While officers were still investigating the officer-involved shooting incident in Collinwood on Thursday, May 25, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting call on Kilburn Hollow Road in Waynesboro.

According to a statement from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, the victim was transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. It is believed this was a targeted incident, and the suspects fled the area in a vehicle.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is following multiple leads. The Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a person of interest in the shooting, Mitchell Lee Todd Askew, a 19-year- old white male. Askew is to be considered armed and dangerous, if you see him or know of his whereabouts, please contact Wayne County Dispatch at (931)722-3613. Askew is from the Lauderdale County, AL area.
