Mrs. Shirley Christine Howell Butler was born November 2, 1936 in Waynesboro, TN, the daughter of the late Jessie “Babe” Ellis and Myrtle Laura Warren Howell. She was united in marriage to Billy Butler in December of 1953. Mr. Butler preceded her in death on March 12, 1990. She worked as a manager for Morgan Lumber Company up until her death. She was a member of the Waynesboro United Methodist Church. Shirley loved playing bridge and was an avid sports fan, especially for the Tennessee Volunteers. Mrs. Butler departed this life on January 7, 2022 in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 85 Years, 2 Months and 5 Days.
She is survived by a son, Randy Alan Butler and wife Debora of Columbia, TN; a daughter, Penny Denise Ray and husband Joe of Collinwood, TN; four grandchildren, Lacee Ray, Jodee Ray (Rena), Katie Beu (Jon), Kallie Butler. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Butler was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd Howell. A graveside service was held on Monday January 10, 2022 at the Memorial Gardens in Waynesboro, Tennessee with Adam Rush officiating. Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.
