Most people know Rose Davis as the funny, spitfire, life of the party, that would probably complain about something, a “German” woman…but she was so much more than that. She was a young 17-year-old AUSTRIAN woman when she met Donny Davis. She married him and left her country and family for her ’Merican husband. She saw places all over the world while traveling with her girls and her husband. She had so many stories that I have heard countless times, and would listen like it was the first time I had heard it. She was strong, stubborn, opinionated, fun, and loving. She had to be to make the life she made in this country. I no doubt had the most unique grandmother. How many of y’all can say your grandmother saw Hitler and survived a bombing during WWII. God put myself and the rest of my family in this lady’s bloodline, and I couldn’t be prouder to call Rose our Mamaw. She was a jewel! And she proved that by always wearing them! She was loved by so many from the ladies of the Red Hats Society to the members of her Country line Church of Christ. She will be missed!
Rose is survived by her children, Linda Davis Houghland (Gary) and Patricia Davis Anderson (Michael); brother, Karl Racz; grandchildren, Steven Houghland (Amanda), Andrea Skelton (Chris), and Sevina Davis; great-grandchildren, Nolyn Staggs, Ethon Staggs, Sayler Skelton, and Ledger Skelton. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Harrer and Papi Racz.
Funeral services were held on Friday, February 3, 2023 at 11:00 am at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro, TN with Tracy Love officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Gardens in Waynesboro, TN with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.
Pallbearers were Michael, Chris, Sayler, Terry, Ethon, Nolyn, and honorary pallbearer, Ledger.
