Record Breaking Winds Blow Through Wayne County

Ferocious winds ripped through Wayne County on Friday, March 3, blowing down trees, damaging roofs, and turning trampolines into airborne objects. Thankfully, we were spared from any severe storms and tornadoes, even though straight-line winds can cause just as much or more damage, as we have seen many times.

The high winds tore the roof off the mobile home pictured above on Highway 13 South.

More damage was reported in adjoining counties, with some residents in Lawrence County still being without power as of Monday. The spring storm season is obviously in full swing, so batten down the hatches and hang on!
