Rathanell Norton Collins of Waynesboro, TN was born August 25, 1926 in Waynesboro, TN, the daughter of the late Preston Gilbert and Clara Mae Clayton Norton. She was united in marriage to Leo Collins on March 5, 1948 and he preceded her in death on September 24, 2000. Mrs. Collins was a retired clerical worker and a member of the First Christian Church, Waynesboro, Tennessee. She departed this life on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at NHC Rehabilitation Center, Springfield, Tennessee at the age of 95 Years, 5 Months, 26 Days.
She is survived by a son, Gilbert (Gil) Collins and wife, Sue of Greenbrier, TN; one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Bob) Norton of Cleveland, MS; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by a son, Steve Collins and sisters, Earlene Smith and Mary Christine Witcher.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Memorial Gardens of Wayne County in Waynesboro, Tennessee with Randy Morris officiating. Burial will follow with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County assisting the family. Pallbearers will be Gil Collins, Randy Morris, Steve Rhodes, Ty Rhodes, Chet Norton and Mark Norton.
