Fall. Food. Festivals. Ohhhh, September! How we love you! In Tennessee, September means cooler temperatures, fall color, and great festival fun. So, Waynesboro is set to greet the cooler days by celebrating the beginning of the fall season with the annual Pumpkin Harvest Festival on Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 9am-3pm.

The Pumpkin Harvest Festival began as an annual community event. It was located on the public square for over three decades. It was established by the city as a way to support the community, promote involvement, and encourage civic pride. Over the years, it became a favorite childhood memory for those who grew up in Waynesboro. Ultimately, the festival was taken over by a local civic organization and eventually relocated to the City Park where it remained for several years.

The Downtown Waynesboro Committee is honored to have the opportunity to host this annual fall event. We listened and took note of many local citizens’ requests to restore the tradition by moving the event back to where it started. Therefore, we are excited to announce the annual Pumpkin Harvest Festival will be returning to its original location, the public square!

The festival will take place on the square. It is situated to welcome over 60+ vendors offering a wide array of items. Seasonal homemade crafts, home décor, soaps, candles, handmade jewelry, t-shirts/sweatshirts, personalized monogramming, painted door hangers and wreaths, jams and jellies, fresh baked sweets and breads, crocheted and knitted things, along with freshly harvested pumpkins, gourds, mums and cornstalks are just a few of the products you will find being offered.

Numerous food and snack vendors will be on hand offering a variety of scrumptious foods. Hamburgers, hotdogs, barbecue, pizza, wings, Cajun, and hibachi style together with homemade desserts and sweets, kettle corn, shaved ice, caramel apples, cotton candy, and fresh lemonade is bound to generate the perfect autumn flair!   Several kids’ activities will be present as well. Watch their eyes light up when seeing the free bouncy house and slide!

A classic car “Drive-In” exhibition will be available for the car enthusiasts to enjoy. Country Road Animal Rescue will be on site offering adoptions in hopes of finding their furry friends a forever home. Lots of the square merchants will be participating with great bargains and sales occurring on the sidewalk and inside. Be sure to stop by to check out what deals they may be offering or register for a surprise give-away.

It’s not too late to participate! It’s a great fundraising opportunity for civic clubs, non-profit organizations, ball teams, church groups, school clubs, etc. If you, or someone you know, would like to participate as a vendor, simply contact the Waynesboro Downtown Committee via email to be added to the vendor list at [email protected].

The Downtown Waynesboro Committee states that they are pleased to provide events that give families the opportunity to not only enjoy our town, but enjoy the beginning of the fall season in a fun and safe environment. Our community and citizens have pivoted during the past several years to adapt to the changing times with new needs for its patrons, and this event is another example of efforts to continue the Committee’s mission in enriching the lives of our citizens.

Everyone is invited everyone to participate and attend! Fall is in the air! See you there!
