Old Timers’ Day, one of Wayne County’s most family-friendly festival gatherings, is held in Collinwood annually on the Saturday before the first Sunday in September. The event provides an opportunity for everyone in the community to get together for fun and fellowship. Old Timers’ Day is hosted by the Collinwood Beautification Board, and activities are centered at Ralph Hughes Park. Saturday, September 3rd is the big day this year!

Crowds of people begin to gather in downtown Collinwood beginning very early on the day of the event. Many people will be out and about at sun-up to enjoy the country breakfast offered by McGlamery Baptist Church. From breakfast on, activities continue in anticipation for the big parade. That’s when the park is usually at its fullest. By 8 a.m., vendor booths will be in full swing, showcasing local arts and crafts, homemade goodies, and delicious food.

The winning slogan for this year’s event, “Come Home for Old Timers’ Day,” was submitted by Margaret Dillinger of Fairfax, Virginia. This year’s Mr. and Mrs. Old Timer are James and Sherline Morris, who will head up the parade that begins at 10:00 a.m. Lineup for the parade will be from 9:00 – 9:30.

Live music in the park will begin with Southern Fire at 11:30 a.m., followed by Eddie Thompson and the Band of Brothers at 1:00 and The Cadillacs at 2:30. Mr. Chuck Koblentz of WWON The Oldies radio station in Waynesboro will be the MC for the event.

Vendors are welcome; all new and returning vendors must call and sign up as soon as possible. For more information on the event or to sign up as a vendor, call Peggy Chambers at 931-212-9016 or 931-724-9918.

Old Timers Day is more than just a festival, it is a day where everyone is welcome and can find something to enjoy in the wonderful small town of Collinwood, Tennessee. Be sure to mark your calendars for this fun annual event!
