Michael Ray Yount, of Waynesboro, TN, was born on August 25, 1937 in Chicago Heights, Illinois, and passed away at his home in Tennessee, May 27, 2022. He was the son of the late Edward L. Yount and Vesta Anita Nantz Yount. Mr. Yount was united in marriage to the love of his life, Charlotte Carol Czahor, on November 6, 1964. She preceded him in death on December 18, 2013, after 49 years of marriage. Mr. Yount was also preceded in death by his brother, Jack Edward Yount.
Mr. Yount proudly served in the United States Army, 1st Armored Rifle Battalion, during the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged on November 30, 1966. He then moved to Florida, where he was a commercial fisherman for many years before moving to Tennessee to enjoy retirement with Charlotte at their home on the Buffalo River.
Mr. Yount was a member of Salmon Unlimited Inc. of Chicago, Illinois, and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. He was also a longtime and generous supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
At his request, Mr. Yount will be cremated at Williams Funeral Home and Crematory in Columbia, Tennessee.
