Michael Lee Dial, age 29, of Cypress Inn was arrested on Friday, October 16th on multiple charges following a traffic stop. According to the report filed by Officer Shannon Adams of the Collinwood Police Department, on Thursday, May 21st, 2020, he performed a traffic stop on the vehicle driven by Dial for a tag light that was not illuminated. Upon making contact with Dial, Officer Adams confirmed through dispatch that his license was revoked. Officer Adams then instructed Dial to step out of his vehicle and told him that he was being placed under arrest. At that point, Dial allegedly started his vehicle, and Officer Adams reached in and turned the vehicle off in an attempt to stop Dial from fleeing. Dial then allegedly started the vehicle again as Officer Adams was attempting to remove him from the vehicle, put the vehicle in drive, and accelerated at a high rate of speed while Officer Adams was still inside the vehicle. Officer Adams was able to get away from Dial’s vehicle, and returned to his patrol vehicle to initiate a pursuit. The pursuit continued onto Indian Creek Road until Officer Adams was instructed to terminate. During the pursuit, Dial was allegedly observed throwing a firearm out of his vehicle, which was later retrieved by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. Dial was ultimately arrested on October 16th, 2020, and charged with aggravated assault, felon in possession of a firearm, felony evading arrest, reckless driving, and driving on a revoked/suspended license 2nd offense. He was booked into the Wayne County Jail on $73,000.00 bond.
