Martha Elizabeth Brewer Gobbell was born May 22, 1940 in Waynesboro, TN, the daughter of the late Roy and Inez Repp Brewer. She was united in marriage to Autry Gobbell on January 21, 1960. Mrs. Gobbell retired as an office manager for T.S. Hassell Company and was a member of the Clifton United Methodist Church in Clifton, TN. She departed this life on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at her home in Clifton, TN at the age of 82 years, 1 month, and 8 days.
She is survived by her husband Autry Gobbell of Clifton, TN; a son, Stephen Gobbell and wife Jane Ann of Savannah, TN; a sister, Linda Joyce Butler of Waynesboro, TN; grandchildren, Stephen M. Gobbell II and wife Mollie of Savannah, TN, David C. Gobbell and wife Makena of Oxford, MS, Calvin Thomas (Cal) Gobbell and wife Leandra of Savannah, TN; great-grandchildren, Sadie Jane Gobbell, Lacey Ann Gobbell, and one on the way, Swayze Lyn Gobbell.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gobbell was preceded in death by a son, Eric Gobbell and a brother, Jim Brewer.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at Clifton United Methodist Church with Tracy Love and Renee Martin officiating. Burial followed in the Clifton Cemetery at Clifton, TN with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne Count assisting the family.
Pallbearers were Stephen Gobbell, David Gobbell, Cal Gobbell, Jamie Brewer, Kyle Brewer, and Joey Butler.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to be given in her memory to the Janet Smith Foundation of the Clifton United Methodist Church.
