Marion Franklin (Monk) Rich

   Marion Franklin (Monk) Rich of Lutts, Tennessee was born January 17, 1951 in Waynesboro, Tennessee, the son of the late Orbie Franklin and Loyal Caroline Smith Rich. Mr. Rich was a retired fork lift driver and member of the Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church in Cypress Inn, Tennessee. He was a United States Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. Mr. Rich departed this life on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, Alabama at the age of 69 Years, 1 Day.

   He is survived by two daughters, Christina Caperton of Lawrenceburg, TN and Samantha Newborn of Collinwood, TN; three grandchildren, Zac Caperton, Sophie Rich and Bentley Samuel Franklin Newborn; two brothers, Robin Rich of Pulaski, TN and E.J. Rich of Cypress Inn, TN; four sisters, Margaret McLemore of Cypress Inn, TN, Sara Overstreet of Lutts, TN, Ruth Rich of Cypress Inn, TN and Jewell Stricklin of Cypress Inn, TN; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Rich was preceded in death by a son, Marion Franklin Rich, Jr. 

   Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church, Cypress Inn, Tennessee, with John E. Banks and Earl Rich officiating. Burial with military rites was in the Piney Grove Cemetery at Cypress Inn, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County assisting the family. Pallbearers were Chris Chambers, Tyler Thompson, Calvin Johnson, Greg McGee, Eli Berry, James Caldwell, and Kevin Westberry.
