Lawrenceburg Man Arrested on Meth Charges After Traffic Stop

   David Shane Newton, age 48, of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, was arrested on Monday, September 7th on charges of manufacture/delivery/sale/possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving on a revoked/suspended license x 3. The report filed by Sergeant Bryant Burcham of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office states that he performed a traffic stop on the vehicle driven by Newton for running a stop sign. When Sgt. Burcham ran Newton’s driver’s license through dispatch, he discovered that it had been revoked since 2011. Newton gave Sgt. Burcham verbal consent to search the vehicle, and the search allegedly revealed a plastic box in the driver’s side floorboard that contained a small baggie of methamphetamine and three syringes. Also allegedly found in the floorboard was a glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine. Newton was transported to the Wayne County Jail and booked in on $87,500.00 bond.
