Joshua Wade Benedict, age 34, of Collinwood, was arrested on Tuesday, December 8th on multiple charges when officers served him with warrants for theft of property and failure to appear. The warrant for failure to appear was issued on November 17th, 2020, following Benedict’s failure to appear for a court date on previous drug and theft charges. The warrant for theft of property was filed on November 5th, 2020 following the alleged theft of a handheld video game from This & That Bargains in Waynesboro. When officers went to a residence on Pumping Station Road to serve Benedict with the arrest warrants, he was allegedly found to be wearing a camouflage fanny pack that held approximately 1 gram of methamphetamine and a loaded 9mm pistol. Benedict was then arrested and charged with the two previous warrants along with charges of manufacture/delivery/sale/possession of methamphetamine, felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of a handgun while under the influence. After being transported to the Wayne County Jail, Benedict was additionally charged with filing a false report after allegedly admitting to calling in a false bomb threat to Waynesboro Middle School on December 2nd, 2020. Benedict is being held in the Wayne County Jail with no bond.
