   Tuesday, September 1, 2020, John David Morgan passed away peacefully at his home in Lutts, Tennessee.  Born October 12, 1929, Mr. Morgan was the only child of the late John Daniel Morgan and Willie Davis Morgan.  Receiving his elementary education at Pinhook School in Lutts, he progressed to Collinwood High School, the University of North Alabama and Peabody College. Mr. Morgan served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. After serving two years, he returned to Wayne County and taught at Collinwood High School until becoming a rural mail carrier where he proudly served for 44 years. Mr. Morgan enjoyed membership in the National Rural Letter Carrier’s Association, in addition to the American Legion and the Million Mile Without an Accident Club. He had served as a commander in the National Guard Unit out of Savannah. He was also a life-long member of the Lutts Baptist Church where he served as treasurer for many years and faithfully taught the Men’s Adult Sunday School class. In 1955, Mr. Morgan married Johnnie Keeton Johnston. They were blessed with two children, daughter, Lisa Morgan Reitz and her husband, Jerry of Redington Beach, Florida and son, John, Jr. and his wife, Linda of Charlotte, North Carolina, all who survive. He had two beloved granddaughters who survive, Morgan Reitz of Atlanta, Georgia and Savannah Morgan of Houston, Texas. Other survivors include niece, Loyce Kelly and  husband, Scott, grand nephews, Keeton Kelley and Andrew Smith and grand nieces, Kaitlyn Kelly and Heather Long. Mr. Morgan will long be known for loving his God, his family and his country.

   Funeral services for Mr. Morgan were Friday, September 4, 2020 at 11 am at Lutts Baptist Church in Lutts, TN with Mike Calvert and Ron Hale officiating. Burial was in Lutts Cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County assisting the family. Pallbearers were Scott Kelly, Keeton Kelly, David Earl Daniel, Shannon Daniel, Stanley Robbins, Keith Wilbanks, Mark McFall and Larry Brown (Brownie) Franks.
