James David (Jim) Powers

   James David (Jim) Powers of Lutts, Tennessee, was born January 28, 1954 in Paducah, Kentucky, the son of the late Claude and Joy Handworker Powers. Mr. Powers departed this life on July 15, 2020 in Florence, Alabama at the age of 66 years, 5 months, 17 days.

   Mr. Powers had several occupations. He worked for the Tennessee Highway Patrol, was an OSHA Inspector in the Oil Industry, and also served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed the outdoors, working in his lawn, and watching sports. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Collinwood, TN.

   He is survived by his wife, Brenda Holt Powers of Lutts, TN; mother-in-law Lula Belle Holt of Lutts, TN; sons, Wesley Powers, fiancée, Andrea Holt of Collinwood, TN, Jordan Powers of Lutts, TN; daughters, Melisa Powers of Cypress Inn, TN, Kim Powers Gray and husband Johnathan of Florence, AL; grandchildren, Lucas Wilt of Blacksburg, VA, Parker Gray of Florence, AL, Cyrus Powers of Lutts, TN; brothers, Johnny Powers and wife Mae of Savannah, TN, Anthony Powers and fiancée,  Lisa of Savannah, TN; a sister, Lorraine Hosea of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews.

   In addition to his parents, Mr. Powers was preceded in death by his father-in-law Doyle Holt, a brother, Michael Powers, and two sisters, Claudia Barham and Amy Grisham.

   Services were Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel in Collinwood, Tennessee, with Casey Jones officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Lutts, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family. Pallbearers were Wesley Powers, Jordan Powers, Johnny Powers, Jonathan Gray, Coty Beckham, and Anthony Powers.
