Waynesboro’s annual Independence Day Celebration is this Saturday, July 3rd, and it is predicted to be the best one yet! Uncertainty about the COVID-19 pandemic kept attendance down at last year’s celebration, but everyone seems to be ready to shake off that COVID blues and enjoy a great time outdoors with friends and family once again!

Gates will open at the Waynesboro City Park at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 3rd. Vendors will be set up all around the park, offering all kinds of food and other goodies. The Waynesboro City Pool and Water Park will be open from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. for everyone to swim, slide, and be able to cool off on what will undoubtedly be a hot day!

The music at Stage 64 will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a special guest, Wayne County’s very own singer, songwriter, and actor, Mark Collie. Although Mark has lived in both Nashville and Texas for many years, he has not forgotten his Wayne County roots. He still enjoys coming back home from time to time and entertaining his devoted fans in Wayne County!

With #1 hits like “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not” and “If I Didn’t Have You,” multi-platinum international artists Thompson Square will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. The husband and wife duo, Keifer and Shawna, have achieved critical acclaim and honors including Vocal Duo of the Year from both the ACM and CMA. Their show promises to be a musical experience worthy of a Nashville stage!

The annual fireworks extravaganza is set to begin at 9:00 p.m. The display in Waynesboro has come to be known as one of the best Independence Day fireworks displays in the entire state of Tennessee. It will certainly be a fitting conclusion to an evening of food, music, and fun!

Mark your calendars and bring your lawn chairs to a great celebration of our country’s independence on July 3rd!
