Mrs. Ila Mae Kerr Cole was born on June 19, 1925 in Brookland, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Charlie Kerr and Adda Good. She was united in marriage to Joel Cole on December 31, 1943. Mr. Cole preceded her in death on July 13, 1983. She attended the Bible Center in Waynesboro, TN and Shawnettee Church in Collinwood, TN. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, working puzzles, board games, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Cole departed this life on May 30, 2021 at her daughter, Kathy and husband, Vic’s house in Waynesboro, TN at the age of 95 years, 11 months, and 11 days.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Cole was preceded in death by her grandson-in-law, Elijah Edwards, her twin sister, Lila Fae Shipe, and 11 other siblings.
She is survived by her four daughters, Glenda Sue Davis and husband Milas of Collinwood, TN, JoNell (Jody) Baugus and husband Jerry of Waynesboro, TN, Kathy Ann Barnett and husband Vic of Waynesboro, TN, Janice Kay Wood and husband Brian of Knoxville, TN; her ten grandchildren, Joel (Mac) Davis and wife Renee, Jeffrey Davis and wife Becky, Jason Davis and wife Sissy, Joshua Davis and wife Erica, Jeremy Baugus and wife Gwen, Jerrod Baugus and wife Ginger, Maegan Edwards, Joel Barnett and wife Destin, Brianne Roberts and husband Ryne, Justin Wood; 21 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren, and her devoted caregiver, Kymberly Pigg.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 3:00 p.m. at Shawnettee Church in Collinwood, TN. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Shawnettee Church in Collinwood, TN, with Leo Doyle officiating. The burial will follow in the Shawnettee Memory Gardens with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.
