Michael Alexander Shanes, age 29, of Hohenwald, Tennessee, was arrested on Monday, April 26th on charges of evading arrest, driving on revoked/suspended 3rd offense, and two counts of violation of a protection order. According to the report, Sgt. Bryant Burcham of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an alleged domestic assault in progress on Highway 13 North near the Buffalo River Trail Ride. Upon his arrival at the scene, Sgt. Burcham made contact with the vehicle in the middle of the roadway near the Crazy Horse canoe rental. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Nadarriah Brown, and the passenger was identified as Michael Shanes. The report stated that there was an active order of protection between the two, with Brown being the protected person. While Sgt. Burcham was assessing the situation, Shanes allegedly jumped into the driver’s seat of the vehicle and fled the scene. A brief chase ensued, but was terminated due to road conditions and speed. Shanes was ultimately arrested and booked into the Wayne County Jail with no bond due to violation of probation
