   Hazel Jane Ayers Casteel was born March 14, 1932 in Lutts, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Charlie and Madgie Horton Ayers. Mrs. Casteel departed this life on Friday, January 10, 2020 in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 87 years, 9 months, 27 days. She was married to Leon Casteel in Corinth, Mississippi on March 25, 1952. He preceded her in death on January 9, 2007. She and Leon lived many years together on the farm on Shawnettee. Mrs. Hazel was a member of Collinwood Senior Citizens Center and a member of Waynesboro Church of Christ.

   She is survived by a son, Phillip Casteel and wife Teresa of Collinwood, TN,
a brother, Ross Ayers and wife Judy of Columbia, TN,  two sisters, Lorene Pigg of Collinwood, TN, Susie Long of Waynesboro, TN, two grandchildren, Kassy Quick and husband Jason and Laura Arnett and husband Kodi, great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Jacob, and Harper Quick and Harrison, Allie, and Henry Arnett.
   In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Casteel was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Ayers, two sisters, Faye Melson and Lesbie Howell.

   Services were held Monday, January 13, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Glen Richardson officiating. Burial followed in McGlamery Cemetery, Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.

   Visitation was Sunday from 5:00-9:00 PM and Monday from 9:00 AM until service time at 11:00 at the funeral home. Pallbearers were James Q. McWilliams, Steve Howell, Benny Ayers, Ivan Ayers, Eddy Casteel, and Jerry Pigg. Honorary pallbeares were Kodi Arnett and Jason Quick.
